When the screen needs replacement
Bring the laptop if the panel is cracked, if lines or dark spots stay on the picture, or if the display stays black while the fans run. A picture that appears from only one angle is screen work too. The technician fits a replacement panel. A monitor on the bench shows whether the rest of the laptop still starts.
Do not peel cracked glass or press it. Loose glass cuts, and pressure can spread the break into the hinge. Close the lid if it still closes, and carry the laptop flat. Say if it was dropped, if liquid hit the keys, or if the picture failed with no knock. A torn cable or a motherboard fault is a different job.
Keyboard replacement
Keys that stick, repeat, or stay dead, missing letters, and a spill on the key mat are keyboard jobs. Brushing out crumbs is not a new keyboard. If a row has died, or the deck feels soft after a drink, stop typing and bring the machine in.
