Do not harvest the other caps
Pulling neighbouring keys to compare them can kill a row that was still typing. A missing cap or a dead letter is a keyboard job when the mat is the fault. A software setting will not stand in for a cap that is gone. Crumbs under one sticky key are a smaller possibility, and they will say so. Screens, batteries, drives, heat, and pop-ups are separate.
