Bring the laptop you already own. The question at the counter is whether the fault needs a new part, or whether the machine can be put right without one. When the failed part is replaced
A cracked, flickering, dim, or black panel is replaced when the panel is the fault. Leave the cracked glass in the frame. Do not peel it, and do not press on the break. A screen that stays black while the fans keep spinning can be the panel, a cable, or the board. The counter checks which of those it is before a part is fitted.
A battery that swells, dies early, or stops taking a charge is replaced. If the palm rest is lifting, or the cover no longer sits flat, stop using the laptop. Do not force the lid shut, and do not puncture the pack. Unplug the charger and bring the machine in. Ask which battery will be fitted before the work starts.
Keys that stick, repeat, or stay dead, missing letters, and a spill on the key mat are keyboard replacements when the keyboard is the fault. Sweeping crumbs out is not a new keyboard. A software setting cannot stand in for a snapped key or a row that liquid has killed. If a row has gone quiet, or the deck feels soft after a drink, stop typing and bring the laptop in.
A slow or failing hard drive is replaced with an SSD or a new drive. This site does not publish drive sizes. The part depends on the laptop and on the quote you hear first. If the files on the old drive matter, say so before the case is opened. This page does not promise a copy of your data.
Repair it without fitting a new part
Some faults never need a part from the board. Loud fans, sudden shutdowns, and heat through the palm rest are traced to the fan and the heat sink, then repaired. Pop-ups, locked files, and a laptop that has become slow are treated by removing malware and cleaning the system. A virus clean is not a new hard disk. Windows is installed clean when the laptop will not boot, or for a fresh start. That install is not a new keyboard or a new battery.
A slow laptop can be more than one of those. Leftover programs, a virus clean, a clean Windows install, and a tired drive are separate. The bench looks at the machine and tells you which of them the quote covers. If the screen is cracked as well, or the battery fades, say both when you describe the laptop so the quote names each fault.
