Laptop Repair Service: Common Problems, Repair Costs & Expert Solutions

All articles

People ask for the cost of a laptop repair the way they ask for the cost of a bus ticket. One fare, any passenger. A laptop does not work that way. The amount follows the part that particular machine will accept, the time it takes to fit that part, and anything else that broke before the lid reached the counter. Two neighbours can describe the same trouble and still leave with different notes.

This page does not print a price list. A figure spoken before anyone has seen the laptop is a guess you can use to decide whether the trip is worth making. It is not the bill. The bill is the note written after the look, and you can still walk away from it.

The battery and the keyboard are separate lines. The notebook is where those lines are written, after the machine has been opened.

What the note is made of

A clear repair note has room for three kinds of line, and only the ones that apply.

The part. A panel, a keyboard deck, a battery, a charger, a disk, a stick of memory, or a board each carries its own cost, and that cost follows the piece this lid will take. “A screen” is not a part. The part is the panel, or the cable, or the whole lid assembly, and those are not the same purchase. Ask which one is going on the note.

The fitting. Seating a battery is not the same afternoon as tracing a board that will not wake, or as cleaning a fan path that has choked. Labour belongs on its own line when it is real work, not as a vague “service charge” wrapped around a part you were not shown.

A fault that was not there yesterday. A clip snapped on a kitchen table, a ribbon pulled while someone “just had a look,” or a pack pierced because the palm rest had lifted, becomes a line of its own. Leaving the case shut on the way to the shop is the decision that keeps that line off the note.

The same complaint, a different amount

Cost splits where the fault splits. A dark picture can be glass, a loose cable, or the board. Ordering glass when the cable was loose is how a modest job becomes an expensive one. An expert’s first move is to say which of the three it is, before anything is bought.

A laptop that will not start can be an adapter that no longer feeds it, a pack that will not take a charge, or a board. Bring the adapter you already own. If that brick is the fault, the note stays on the brick. If you leave it at home, the counter has to guess, and a guess tends to wander toward the dearer part.

A machine that has grown slow can need unwanted software taken off, or it can need a disk that is already failing. Those are different purchases. A clean does not put a drive in the bay. A new drive does not, by itself, promise the old files. Say that the files matter before the bottom cover comes off, so that sentence is on the note too.

Heat that ends in a shutdown is usually the fan and the heat sink. It should not be written up as a new motherboard, or as a new battery, until someone has said why those parts are the ones that failed. One sticky key from a crumb is not a full keyboard. A drink across the deck is. The amount follows that distinction.

What an expert keeps off the bill

The useful skill is refusing the wrong line. A fresh install of Windows is not a keyboard, and it is not a pack. A pitch for a different laptop is not a repair of the one you carried in. A promise that your files will be waiting on a disk that has not been looked at is not a line an honest note can carry.

Several faults can sit together. Starred glass and a fading pack are two lines, not one bundled “full service” that hides the dearer part inside a friendly total. If you wanted only one of them done, say so before the cover goes back on. The other line can wait.

The lids opened on this bench read Dell, HP, Lenovo, Acer, ASUS, Apple, and MSI. That is the daily work. It is not a badge from the company that printed the name. The wall shows a charger, a battery, a drive, memory, a keyboard, and a motherboard. One of those is fitted only when it is the fault that was named.

How to hear the amount

Describe what the laptop did, in the order you noticed it, and name the lid. Ask for the part, if a part is needed, and for the note before any paid work. If the name on that note is not the part you expected, pause. A quote that cannot name the fault is not ready.

The counter is at NO 35/1, NO 26, Ganesh Complex, Above TVS Showroom Main Road, Hosur Rd, opp. to Infosys Limited, Electronic City, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560100. You walk the laptop in. Nobody is sent to collect it. When the work is finished you leave with the same machine.

Call or WhatsApp 099724 47766. The list of work for this counter is on the services page. Which fix belongs to which fault is in common problems and expert solutions. A separate note covers a laptop that will not turn on. What a smaller number is worth, before the lid is open, is in quality repairs at the price that fits the job.
